What is massage
Massage targets the skin, muscles, fascia, tendons, and ligaments of the body. It can be defined as bodywork, manual therapy, or manipulative therapy. Todaysâ massage therapies are considered complementary forms of healthcare. Historically, these therapies have their roots in ancient healing practices.
Beneficial effects
ease muscular tension
improve postural balance
relax the body
calm the mind
calm the nervous system
uplift the spirit
improve our sense of wellbeing
On a physical level, muscular tension can be significantly reduced, knots eased, circulation improved, pain reduced, and balance or calm can be supported in the nervous system.
Massage can also bring about positive changes or therapeutic effects in the emotional, psychological, and spiritual bodies through the mind-body connection, the sense of touch, and by being in a serene, nurturing environment.
